Your Rights

We place your rights at the forefront of our philosophy of care. individuals are encouraged to express and exercise their rights.

Dignity

We are commited to training all staff to provide our service in a way that respects peoples' dignity following the 10 principles set out in the department of health's dignity challenge.

  • Have a zero tolerance of all forms of abuse.
  • Support people with the same respect you would want for yourself or a member of your family.
  • Treat each person as an individual by offering a personalised service.
  • Enable people to maintain the maximium level of independence, choice and control.
  • Listen and support people to express their needs and wants.
  • Respect peoples rights to privacy.
  • Ensure people feel able to complain without fear of retribution.
  • Engage with family members and carers as care partners.
  • Assist people to maintain confidence and  positive self-esteem.
  • Act to alleviate people's lonliness and isolation.

Privacy

We aim to retain as much privacy as possible in ways which include:

  • Assisting with personal situations as discreetly as possible.
  • Guarenteeing your privavcy when, you are for example, using the telephone, opening and reading post and communicating with friends, relatives or advisors.
  • The agency holds all your information confidentially. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office in line with the Data Protection Act 1998.
  • All staff have a clear understanding of their responsibilities under confidentiality and data protection and will not pass on any of yuor personal data to anyone not involved in your package of care.

Please note that the company reserves the right to share information to other professional bodies such as social services, Doctors etc. We will only share information if the sharing of such information would benefit your well being.

Independence

You are encouraged to maintain as much independence and individuality as possible in ways which inlcude:

  • Providing assistnace as tactfully as possible when it is needed.
  • Maximising your ability to self-care and for carrying out the tasks of daily living to their best potential.
  • Respecting your rights to take informed risks, balancing health and safety and choice.
  • Ensuring you have access to and are able to contribute to your support plan. You recieve a copy of your support plan.

Choice

We aim to assist you to exercise choice in all aspects of your life in which ways include:

  • Encouraging you to exercise choice in your selection of organisations and staff who support you (where practical).
  • To manage our service as far as possible to your preferences in relation to days and times of service.

Fulfilment

We aim to assist you to achieve fulfilment in all aspects of your life in ways which include:

  • Gathering information where appropriate about your history, characteristics, hobbies and interests.
  • Responding appropriately to your personal, interllectual, artistic and spiritual values/practices.
  • Respecting your religious, ethnic and cultural diversity.
  • Striving to listen and respond promptly to your desire to communicate.
